Take a shrub piece of land that offers very little value ~2/3 acre
Clear it.
Our burm/hugelculture sight- catches water and will level out with the rest of the slope, eventually
Fill with all the shrub and other woody debris laying around
Add cardboard
and manure
Mix the manure with the berm of dirt and cover the cardboard and wood- let it sit.
We added three new nursery beds above the berm area
Seed it.
Water it and watch it grow
The cover crop we placed on the beds is just starting to come up, so I'll have another photo soon. My boss and me cleared this spot in about a day and had the hugelculture set up the next. The purpose of hugelculture, by what I understand is, to act as a sponge and break down into wonderful organic soil. Google it, if you'd like to find out more. I couldn't find one specific site I liked.
Staying busy!
