The Going Ons
While fall has bloomed here it is fading fast. Fall is when I wish I was back East. I miss the rainbow of colors you get in Appalachia. Luckily, I'll say for me, the aspens and oaks create a yellow and orange band across the mountains here. We are in our home stretch around the farm. We'll close our gates for winter in four weeks and that's if winter holds off long enough. Just like the mice and squirrels, who are scurrying around preparing their last meals and homes, we are trying to finish a few projects. Our largest project has been building a new hoop house. I've learned a lot about building things to last. My bosses are good at construction and have spent much of their lives building houses and other buildings. I have lots to learn. Our hoop house will cover one of the new propagation beds that we cleared this past August. It happens to be on a significant slope so using a surveyors level has been important for building the base of the house. The house is about 100ft long and 12ft wide. We've been bending our own hoops too. Here are some photos:
Check out my previous post too.
