Car Packed

Except for the odds and ends laying around my house, I am ready. The car is packed, pretty full, but three people can still fit in my small SUV. I am blessed to have giving and trusting parents who are letting me take a car 1,700 miles across this country for a year. My parents and I will traverse this country in three short days. I am happy to have them along for the drive, which will certainly be made easier with three drivers in the car.

The Harvey Girls film on Turner Classic Movies is filling my ears this evening. Judy Garland is playing the sweet but daring mail order bird role. I spent my early morning packing my car, making sure everything would fit, which it does! My parents and I hopped in the car and drove over to Charlottesville to see my brother for lunch and say goodbye. After a long afternoon with him we stopped by my wonderful Aunt and Uncle's to say goodbye too. I will certainly miss our close proximity and praise the internet and cell service I will have in CO.

The rest of my evening/night has been filled with checking list and marking off tasks that needed to be completed before the AM.

My thoughts have been able to wonder a little throughout the day and has dwelled a bit on the unknown. What will this job turn out to be like? Will I make the most of it? Will I meet my own expectations, but also my new bosses?

I am confident that I will make the most of this experience and am excited to be challenged by whatever the ranch can throw at me. Everyday will bring a new challenge and when the challenges lessen, I am sure that some of the beautiful and realistic details of this landscape will come to life.

I'm excited and I can't wait to share this adventure with you all!
