Yesterday (3rd) we loaded up our entire cow herd and moved them south to the same ranch our yearling herd is settled. We herded the cows down the road at 7AM and had them sorted by 10AM. The semi trucks showed up at 10 and we were all loaded up by 11:30. It was quite an event. (Three people)
The four trucks headed an hour south. By 2:30, we had the entire herd settled and paired up in their new belly deep grass.
Yesterday morning I also rescued a baby rabbit from the jaws of Wolly the cat. The rabbit was turned out after he felt well enough to jump out of his box and hide behind a set of coolers.
I attended the Crestone Fourth of July parade and festival. It was entertaining. (crazy two car thing pictured)
Happy Independence day!
Tomorrow I'll be sorting replacement heifers off of the yearling herd. So that we can turn our bulls into the cow herd.
