I did not believe when I left the San Luis Valley that I could become more isolated than I was then, but I think I have done it by moving to NM.
I'm really enjoying my work. There is a ton to learn and grasp, and one season will not fill the knowledge gap I'm excavating/discovering.
Side note: You can read my final San Juan Ranch report by clicking the link below. The document contains all of my reports, but you can skim down to my final one, if you wish.
Quarterly Reports
Thus far I've planted over a thousand trees in root bags and still have around 1500 to go. This work is very different then running a ranch/cattle operation, but generally speaking, both kinds involve a lot of hard work. My bosses like getting work done, but remember to add humor and humility into the work too. At the end of April, I experienced the "ah ha" moment when I knew this was the right place to be for the next handful of months.
Other than work five days a week I get two days to recoup and explore. Santa Fe has been my main attraction, but one "weekend" I stayed at the farm (yes, I get to use the infamous F-word again!) and explore the local countryside (Pictures below).
